Periodic solutions of fourth-order delay differential equation

In this paper the periodic solutions of fourth order delay differential equation of the form $ddddot{x}(t)+adddot{x}(t)+f(ddot{x}(t-tau(t)))+g(dot{x}(t-tau(t)))+h({x}(t-tau(t)))=p(t)$  is investigated. Some new positive periodic criteria are given.

Periodicity in a System of Differential Equations with Finite Delay

The existence and uniqueness of a periodic solution of the system of differential equations d dt x(t) = A(t)x(t − ) are proved. In particular the Krasnoselskii’s fixed point theorem and the contraction mapping principle are used in the analysis. In addition, the notion of fundamental matrix solution coupled with Floquet theory is also employed.

A simple chaotic delay differential equation

The simplest chaotic delay differential equation with a sinusoidal nonlinearity is described, including the route to chaos, Lyapunov exponent spectrum, and chaotic diffusion. It is prototypical of many other high-dimensional chaotic systems. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. PACS: 02.30.Ks; 02.30.Oz; 05.45.-a; 05.45.Jn; 05.45.Pq

Positive Solutions of Neutral Delay Differential Equation

Neutral delay differential equations contain the derivative of the unknown function both with and without delays. Some new phenomena can appear, hence the theory of neutral delay differential equations is even more complicated than the theory of non-neutral delay equations. The oscillatory behavior of the solutions of neutral systems is of importance in both the theory and applications, such as...

Transition Layers for Singularly Perturbed Delay Differential Equations with Monotone Nonlinearities

Transition layers arising from square-wave-like periodic solutions of a singularly perturbed delay differential equation are studied. Such transition layers correspond to heteroclinic orbits connecting a pair of equilibria of an associated system of transition layer equations. Assuming a monotonicity condition in the nonlinearity, we prove these transition layer equations possess a unique heter...
